Creator marketplace where instructors publish structured courses and learners browse, request access, track progress, and earn certificates — with admin approvals and manual payouts.
Overview
Courses by Creators is a multi-sided learning marketplace. Creators apply, get approved, and publish structured courses. Students browse, request paid access via manual bank transfer, track progress, and receive certificates. Super-admins manage users, roles, payouts, and audit logs. Stripe and an AI tutor were explicitly out of v1 so the access model could land first.
Challenge
Creator education products either take a 30% cut through a global marketplace or dump videos on Drive. Teams needed approvals, bank-transfer access, and progress without pretending payments were instant.
Solution
Next.js frontend, Express API, MongoDB, and RBAC permission keys (users.manage, access_requests.confirm, courses.publish). Hybrid creator onboarding: apply → admin approve → publish. Students keep student capabilities even after becoming creators.
